I have this from reading, and not from first hand experience. I
won't allow Flash on any of my machines. So, I can't test the
following information.
1. I am guessing you have a 64 bit version on Mint. the 64 bit
version of Flash is widely reported not to work. Try installing a 32
bit Linux and then try the Adobe installerI installed the latest Adobe
Flash for a customer on 32 bit Fedora 17 and it worked fine.
2. Google builds Flash into Chrome. but not Chromium. Download Chrome
and install it.

3. Most Youtube videos play without Flash. html5 is good enough.
