[NTLUG:Discuss] mandriva 2007 PP network interface enumeration

I need some guidance from somebody who has done this before.. Mandrake 
has screwed around they way they do things AGAIN....

I have a tyan K8SE dual opteron motherboard that has a built in intel 
10/100 nic and 2 10/100/1000 tg3 nics.. I would like to change which one 
is which, i.e eth1 eth2 etc...

/etc/modprobe.conf is not helping.. If I even try anything it makes 
things break, like it won't load the second gig-e port...


Does anybody have any idea how to make this cow submit?
