[NTLUG:Discuss] MythTV sound issue

I remember on one of my rare visits to a meeting, I saw a great toy that
one of the users brought in. It was a MythTV box (upon which I based my
own box) that was packed full of goodies including that "Linux Only" TV
capture card. He had based his installation on Knoppmyth. Following in
his footsteps, I had attempted the same thing, but my system board was very
different in that the hard drives are on SATA and the DVD writer is on some
IDE that is actually some RAID controller. It's a weird motherboard I
know... Anyway, my experiences with Knoppmyth were all but
non-functional. So I attempted again using Fedora Core 5. I'm getting a
lot more success though I have some issues with sound. And I recall that
the person with his MythTV box was also encountering problems with sound.

So I ask you, anonymous stranger, did you ever overcome your sound problem?
And if so, how? I think my symptoms are the same as yours. From the lite
reading I have done so far, I am guessing that MythTV relies on ALSA and I
don't have that turned on... not yet anyway.

And if anyone else has any suggestions..? I'm listening! :)
