[NTLUG:Discuss] What is the Best Linux & Why?

My main linux workstation at home is a SGI Indy.
Because of this, I chose Debian Woody mainly because
of the packaging system. For some reason, when I
compile software on the machine myself, everything
segfaults a few minutes after execution, so I use the
"apt get <packagename>" command to install and the
"apt upgrade dist" to upgrade to the latest base
packages. I would like to get IRIX for the system
since it is a SGI, but as I do not have a monitor that
works on it, I currently just ssh into it and use the
console.

Before this I have used/tried different versions of
Redhat, SUSE, Gentoo, Mandrake (*cringes*), Knoppix,
etc on other machines at home. And back in the pre
1.0 kernel days, I used Slackware.

At work I use Redhat 9 on my workstation because the
install was quick and it had most software that I
needed upon install.
