It entirely depends on your BIOS. Go into the BIOS
setup screen(s) and see if you can select 'boot from USB'.
If you can (and presuming the drive has a bootable image
on it, etc) - then it should work.
If you can't select 'boot from USB' (and MANY BIOS'es
don't support that feature) - then you'll have to put the
boot stuff onto a floppy or a CD-ROM and boot from that
instead.
