Indeed, it was from stat(2) but my home workhorse/central server/too-
old-to-kill-it P133 box....running RH5.2

Alas, I had real work demands yesterday afternoon so I couldn't
go off and reply.  "ls -lc" did match the time status/change
time on my incoming mbox and what finger(1) was stating as well.
I should have dug deeper before I answered but yesterday wasn't
all that pleasant.
