Postfix 2.0.6 didn't work.  Status changed on both mail received and mail
checked.
Sendmail 8.11.6 didn't work either.  Status changed on both mail received
and mail checked.

So I guess YMMV with this solution I can say for two linux machines one
running 2.4.2 with the SGIFS Patches and another running 2.4.19 and no
special patches that using this to determine the last time mail was read
does not work.

Because the '-c' option shows the last time the 'status time' of
the file changed, not the modification time, which would be the
last time mail was received or the USER's inbox was updated.
