All (off track) discussion of whether or not to shut up aside, the orginal intent was to open a discussion on what options one might have when standing face to face with "raging beast".  For example, if faced with the choice of either MS or SCO, would there not also at least be the option to not use computers, no matter how painful that may seem?  But (while expressing my desire for the defeat of SCO's ugly MO) my original point of departure was to wonder out loud if dropping back to a kernel < 2.4 would be enough to fend off the "monster under the bed".  Probably an unanswerable question, but the really the point is to do the "what if" game.  And I will admit that if the choice is to shutup or stop using Linux, the choice I make could also be "non of the above", and you might not care for the choice I make.
