[NTLUG:Discuss] weird network blocking

I experienced an unusual network blockage yesterday - today it has cleared
up. I was wondering if any network gurus out there had a clue.

Yesterday, all day long, I could not browse to http://slashdot.org. RH8.0.
I tried mozilla, netscape 4.8, lynx, curl, wget, evolution, nmap - none of
these worked from this box at work (behind a corporate firewall). All
other boxes around here, linux and windows, had no problem getting there.
Even more puzzling, konqueror worked fine! What is different about a
konqueror request than all the others? Oh, I also tried rebooting, same
problem. I verified I wasn't using any proxies or caches too.

Of course, I'm suspicious of the firewall here, as they have done lots of
squirrelly things to disable services. I noted traceroute was getting
beyond the firewall, so perhaps the blockage was on the return
ip-translation.
