I was laid off about 3 weeks ago.  There seem to be alot of jobs on the
job boards, but it is hard to get interviews.  The employers are being
VERY specific in their requirements.  

A friend of mine left the company about 3 months ago and has been trying
to get me on with him every since.  I had the first interview a month
ago, but the client wouldn't do the second one.  Political winds changed
suddenly last Friday and my friend was given the authority to hire 1
person (me!)  I was really blessed!  Due to severance pay, etc, I never
missed a paycheck.  But it really took me 2-3 months to find a job.

Oh, I have 16 years of Unix admin, architecture and management.
