You can browse the contents of the non-free and contrib-software at
www.debian.org/distrib/packages
If they remove this software from the debian-distribution, I think you can
get them from other sites too, BUT I'M NOT SURE. At least some packages can
be dl'd from other sites (like the kde(2)-packages) and the netscape
packages too, I think. I don't know about a proposed change of the social
contract. I'll ask on irc, but at least there's nothing about it on the
official site, so I think it are only rumours.
By the way: Debian works great here!
