Yes...as I mentioned....the safest way to access without contention is
with Samba shares.

Apparently, once VMWare is started, it's clock is managed via software.
As I mentioned in my other post, my VMWare machine loses a lot of time
overnight...the clock doesn't keep up. My guess is that the VMWare
clock gets interuppted too much.

No...not necessarily. It pretty much kills of the 3D accelerated games.
I run some directX capable games like Jazz Jackrabbit 2 with no
problems. Some others which run without problems are: DX-Ball 2, DemonStar,
Forsaken (in SW mode), Riven.

With the exception of some of the games, and assuming that all of the apps
mentioned are truly Windows apps (not DOS apps), then it should all work
fine.
Of course, you can always have VMWare boot your existing IDE based
install....thus allowing you to boot for real into Windows 98 when needed.
Of course, Windows will plug-and-play you with regards to the monitor....
but it's not too bad.
