It seems to me that if you were running Samba and using the devices as
Linux devices mapped to Winxx through the network neighboorhood that
this
would eliminated the contention problems? Also I've got my Winxx system
currently setup to run a time update script on the Linux box everytime
someone logs in, wouldn't this still work with VMWare?
If you can't run DirectX wouldn't this kill off most of the games that
Winxx runs?
I have several areas that I've got to support, PeachTree Accounting for
the business and apps such as Family Tree, Stock Selection Guide,
Quicken,
Home Designer, and of course games:) One machine I share between
business
and family to run Winxx tools that I cannot get under Linux so I'd like
to be able to eliminate a dedicated Winxx machine if possible. I also
need
to be able to test web apps against IE as well as Netscape. VMWare
seems
like it would give me some options including loading OS/2 and testing
there
as well.
