Hey everyone.
Texas Instruments has an opening for a Linux Integration Engineer.
What we really need is someone with strong Linux admin/troubleshooting
skills, and advanced bash scripting skills. Please see the job

Basically, we integrate TI hardware and software into a number of
embedded Linux devices. We currently use Android and Poky
(OpenEmbedded derivative), and should soon be using Ubuntu as well.
This position is in the Build and Release team, and deals with the
integration of all the various developer's code into a finished OS.
We are in the process of automating the
configuration/integration/build/test cycle that we use.

Linux Integration Engineer
Location: Dallas , TX
Duration:6+ Months
Description:
As Linux Integration Engineer, you’ll be responsible for successful
integration, build, test and release of Linux Solutions to OMAP™ SW
Customers and the open source community. The ideal candidate will have
the ability to work in a collaborative, geographically dispersed,
cross-functional organization and have the ability to focus on
integration, build, release and testing of software components. The
candidate should also be skilled in programming and scripting and
proactively leverage software skills and experience to resolve
technical issues and to improve efficiency through automation
Responsibilities:
* Integrate separate product components forming the solution.
* Resolve complex integration problems requiring technical expertise
and understanding.
* Automate build & packaging activities and other daily tasks
* Leverage Linux open source tools and applications to enable open
source community software releases
* Develop and/or manage development of test plans and test cases
* Work with cross functional teams of test, development and program
management during all phases of the integration cycle.
* Work closely with other test teams to effectively integrate separate
product components into an overall solution.
* Report issues and accurate project status to management
Required Skills:
* Proven experience in integration, system test of embedded solutions,
preferably cellular systems
* Strong Linux OS background, preferably with open source experience;
Android and Ubuntu are a plus
* Advanced shell (bash) scripting knowledge
* Experience with other scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.)
* Experience with open source revision control systems (git, bazaar,
subversion, etc)
* Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
* Must be familiar with Clear Case Configuration Management.
* Must be organized, good with documentation, good time management.
* Must have good communications skills (oral and written).
* Ability to relocate to Dallas
Desired Skills:
* Experience with Linux open source tools and methodologies
* Experience with handheld, wireless devices
* Experience in an organization that uses a well-designed software
process. Capability Maturity Model experience is a plus.
