Have you tried looking at the Linux Laptop Homepage?  It list many models and 
has advice from a lot of people on what you have to do to make them work.  I 
see 6 listings for "Dell CPi"; check out http://www.linux-laptop.net/, it's a 
good resource for laptop users.
