Good points.  I didn't remember anything about a license floppy.

Unless you're asking the person to send you the official Win95
installer CD, delete all copies of it that he may have, and delete all
VMs or dualboots using it, you're asking the person to violate the law
and subject themselves to copyright penalties
( https://www.lib.purdue.edu/uco/infringement ). And even if the person
gives you all copies, I don't know whether the license prevented
transfer or second sale. And before you tell me about the first sale
doctrine, being on the right side of the law doesn't prevent you or the
person who does you this favor from enduring a time consuming and
expensive lawsuit, even if such lawsuit is without merit.
You say your old software would be really expensive to replace. Would
it cost $150,000 USD? Because that's what it might cost somebody who
cooperates with you.

And beware, because as I remember, in order to install Win95 you need
to be able to give the installer access to a MS-DOS installer floppy.

I'm not a lawyer, and this isn't legal advice, but I wouldn't be caught
dead cooperating with such a scheme. There's a reason we use Free
Software: To steer clear of this kind of situation.
