[NTLUG:Discuss] [OT] sort of hardware compatibility questions

Well we made it back from the jungle in Papua New Guinea. Thanks to
suggestions from the group I was able to use Linux exclusively for my
audio recording work. Let me know if you want to know more about what we
were doing.

I learned a lot about what not to do when operating high power laptops
in a jungle environment. I learned that anything including glass will
mildew given enough heat, humidity and time. And when recording in a
grass house the rooster next door is your worst enemy. I did get my
revenge by eating him on the last day before we left the jungle.

Anyway to my questions. I need help putting together the system I will
take with me next year. First I won't take a high powered laptop. I need
something that can handle the audio recording and sips energy. Also need
noise canceling mics and anything else that might help with audio
quality and can run on batteries powered by solar panels. And of course
it has to be supported on Linux.

If you know about audio recording hardware/software and would like to
help with this project please contact me off list.
