[NTLUG:Discuss] NFS Server Timeout

Following a recent power outage that took down my NFS server I am no longer able to mount anything on that server, even from a client on the same local network.  On the client side the mount returns:  mount: RPC: Timed out
Running tcpdump on the server, I discovered that the mount response is not being sent until some 38 seconds after the mount request was received.  The client is timing out after 20 seconds.  trying to run: showmount -d on the server also results in an RPC timeout.  Even rpcinfo -p  on the server itself is extremely slow, taking 10 seconds to report back the portmapperdata while on another NFS server it will report back without delay.
I've check the usual things like processor utilization (2%), disk usage (35%) and memory utilization (45%) but don't have a clue as to what's going on.  Any ideas?
Thanks,
George Lass
