As I left I thought "if I look and others look and combine results we 
should have a good list quickly".  I choose "places to eat" instead of 
"restaurants" because most are fast food.  I checked my route home 
(mostly North on 35E) and found basically two locations:

35 & Valwood Parkway:

  * Dairy Queen, Grandys, Taco Cabana, Santa Rosa, Red Line 
(hamburgers), Waffle House, Subway, Jack In The Box

"Old down town Carrollton" (not sure that's what it is but it's an area 
just south of Beltline on the east side of I35 which is made to look 
like an "old down town")

  * Babes Chicken, Louisana Poor Boys, Agave Azul, Rainbow Fountain and 
Grill, C^2 Cafe, Wonderful World of Cooking

Although there's a McDonalds and Subway further north, that's all I saw 
until you get near the Lewisville (mall) area.  I work in Las Colinas 
and don't recall there being much going south on I35 until you get to 
Royal (and not much until you go further south). Other options are east 
on 635 at Josey (basically Josey and Forest going east) and west on 635 
at MacArthur.  Personally I'd like to avoid a long drive to a restaurant.
