[NTLUG:Discuss] Is is just me or is Red Hat/CentOs understanding of PAM, auth, etc, just totally insane or what?

I know what I thought when I read this. It was about Lennart trying
to get systemd adopted as a requirement in Gnome. Then, all the
distros that use Gnome would be pretty much coerced to take systemd.
Chris has gone into a fair amount of detail at prior meetings about
the deficiencies of systemd. Personally, I think it might end up
being a good idea. But, like most of Lennart's big ideas, it is being
pushed out way before it is ready.

I liked the idea of Pulse Audio almost as soon as I heard of it. It
is fairly usable now. But, it was sure a rocky few years getting
here. The big question I have is whether we need the instability to
end up with the benefits. Maybe, it is needed. I am not convinced
either way at this time.

What he was saying was that RedHat had its IPO in the US and so it
was followed by companies in the US. Chris has often spoken of how
much better he thinks the engineering is at SuSE, but it was perceived
to be foreign. I know Novell bought it, but RedHat had become
dominant in the US by then.

I don't see anything wrong with Chris venting a little. Maybe he
will open a ticket, and maybe not. But, it is instructive reading. I
don't mean to diminish you, here, Thomas. I enjoy and learn from you
too. I think I agree more with Chris, but keep posting.
