[NTLUG:Discuss] PCIE gigabit nic cards

Howdy,
 I am looking for a gigabit NIC card to go in a PCIE slot(1X).  I was
surprised at how expensive these are at local stores I checked.  I
guess this leads to several questions.

1. Does anyone have an extra card they want to sell cheap?
2. I am wondering about why.  Are these cards rarely bought? Low
volume might explain why there is no local competition.
3. Does anyone know of a cheap local source?  I have been seeing local
prices of $40 and up, which seems crazy for a 1 port NIC card.  eBay
has Intel cards for about $20, which seems more reasonable.  If eBay
was not so focused  on PayPal, I would have gone that way.  I won't
get a PayPal account because the Terms of Service are so unreasonable.
