Charles,
  That was my comment you must be referring to.  I would not say you
exactly messed up.  I just said you had not trimmed your quotes well.  I
intended it as a pretty mild statement, but also noted that it worked
out in this case.  I did find Allen's email a bit later as a filter had
mis-filed it for me.  In general, it is considered good practice to trim
the message you are replying to.  You should only leave the parts that
you are most directly commenting on or replying to.  Note the section of
your note I left above.

 This list does not enforce the rule.  So, you just may get a comment or
two.  The reason for trimming is to be courteous to the people following
the list.  They generally have read what you are replying to already.
By not trimming, you are making them wade through it to find your reply.
So, it wastes a little bit of a bunch of people's time.  I know we have
a few people on dialup in our group.  You are making them download more
and that takes a noticeable time for them.  Thank you for commenting.
