[NTLUG:Discuss] Free or low cost VPN service for Linux

I'm looking for advice with regard to a free or low cost VPN service
for Linux.  I have only one computer, a laptop, running Ubuntu.  While
I know about SSH and tunneling I am not accomplished at setting it up
and from what I've read I need some sort of base computer, which I
don't have.  In the Windoze world there are quite a few free VPN
services but my Google activities have not shed any light on similar
services for Linux users.
