True I have tethered to a note/netbook as well, but the note/netbook has a
OS , and the phone has a OS , I would like to see the phone contain the OS
only and the other act as a shell our dock for the phone with no OS ,
cheaper than a laptop , phone combo tethered .
Maybe not for all, but still a logical step in device evolution.

I do hope you get to come at some time.

Also, the first "computer" I saw with "phone" (SIM) was the Raon Everun.
In fact there's a video of one of the first recipients picking it up
from the post office and plugging his SIM card into it and almost
IMMEDIATELY getting a phone call from his wife while driving home.
Don't know the url to the video... obviously it's very old now.

I've been able to tether my phone to my laptop for many years, just a
USB cable. Acts like a modem with PPP... presto, instant Internet
anywhere.

So... IMHO, the capability is sort of old news.... I guess what might be
new is bundling the netbook + phone by a vendor.
