I would suggest holding off upgrading until v1.6 is released. They are going to simplify the presentation architecture, especially concerning things like "sections" versus "categories".
I too have some v1.0x sites, but decided to hold off on v1.5 improvements until v1.6 hits the streets.
As always, ymmv..
