Back in the old days I served up PPP on a Linux box to dial-in
customers, using Boca boards and external modems. I ran out of I/O
ports I could get away with using at 30 Boca ports plus the four normal
ones. I just couldn't find enough unencumbered blocks of I/O ports to
get all 32 Boca ports I had on the box. That was on the king of all
Linux distributions, Slackware. :-)
I doubt the distribution will make much difference in operation, but a
distribution may or may not locate extra ports without help.
Rc.local and setserial will, though. :-)
Regards from a lurker,
Carl
