You realize that "apt" is not a package management system as much as it
is a repository retrieval system.  Typically, apt is used in debian
systems to help in getting "debs."  [DEB :: RPM] and [APT :: YUM]

Perhaps my notation isn't correct, but I think you get the idea.

But I will say that knowledge and understanding helps to resolve a great
many problems associated with package management.  The most
"conservative" systems still use RPM and YUM while DEB and APT are also
quite heavily used by other camps.  I am indifferent to the choice,
personally.  They both serve the same functions after all.
