In respect to our discussion about the installation of packages starting 
a service without asking the administrator/package installer, or giving 
them the chance to configure the service before it is started, I 
remember installing Apache 2.0 on a (shudder...) Windows Server2000 box 
and Apache asked if it was to be installed as a service, and then asked 
if I wanted to start apache when the install finished, or later after I 
had edited http.conf.  It seems a shame that the same thing cannot be 
done on Linux that is done on Windows.  Just my observation.  Peace, Dennis
