To me, the best mp3 player is one that does not use any interface
software at all. And one that is simple and easy to use, (and does
not cost an arm and a leg. I have / use the SanDisk Sansa Express with
2G MicroSD which gives me a total of 3G. I really like it because it
is simple and easy to use and it has built in USB plug, (so you just
plug the device into a USB port to charge or dump more mp3s on). But,
I don't know about the other formats, I only use mp3 and I mostly just
rip CDs and and create my own. I rip them and just dump them on the
device and that's pretty much it.
If you want something fancier, see: http://go.shopsansa.com/default.aspx

I understand that iTunes has been up and running on Linux for a while
now, but I don't know for sure. Someone else please let us know about
that....
