Yes, kplayer is just a fancy front end for mplayer. mplayer is really
awesome - you should fix it.

If a CD player can't find your CDROM drive then you have a system config
problem that needs fixing - not sure what it is, but shouldn't be all that
hard to track down and fix.

On a KDE system you should have kscd which is a pretty simple CD Music
player and works ok for me - but again, if you have a system config problem
that will not allow one player to find or access the CDROM, it is likely
that another will have same problem.
