I now know what it looks like on SuSE when SMART notifies you that your 
hard drive is failing....  Decided I didn't like the partitioning anyway 
and did a reinstall.  Interesting side note, although I had the SuSE 
10.3 DVD only 3.4MB (out of about 3.5GB) came from it.  The rest came 
from the network, not totally sure why.

Anyway, the old hard drive hasn't totally failed (yet) and, after the 
install was complete, I copied my data from it to the new HD.  Had 
already learned how to transfer Thunderbird.  Copied the unique icons 
from the Desktop of my old HD to the equivalent place on the new HD. 
They came over but not with positioning and some no longer had their 
bitmaps.  Where are these things kept?
