Several people are using eclipse. Adobe is using it for their Air and
Flex development. Zend uses it for their PHP IDE. I think IBM is
pushing it as well. It is very popular as it has a lot of features and
can be expanded easily, plus being java it is cross platform. But Java
is also the reason it has memory and speed issues at times. It is easy
to mess java up, even for experienced programmers. I don't think the
default eclipse should give problems, but if you installed it via a
package manager it will install some specific modules (or whatever they
are called, plugins, whatever) and that is where some problems arise.
