i have been with Verizon since they first offered FIOS (fiber optic system). I purposely set up a Windows XP computer for installation, and the techs they sent were grateful. They did the install on Windows XP, then told me that Verizon does support Linux, and left me with a hand-written card of instructions for using Linux, and a phone number for their technical staff, which was promised to be Linux capable. This was part of the phone/TV/internet package I ordered. I like it still. The instructions were enough, no assistance needed.
Much later, when the provided modem/router went bad, their technical staff quickly diagnosed the problem over the phone, and sent out a very capable technician the next day with a new model modem/router. He reworked some of my plugged in wiring, retrieved several Verizon items replaced by the new modem/router, and left. He did not ask a single question about Linux, and had no trouble using it.
