[NTLUG:Discuss] Wireless problem

I really didn't want to post this but after wasting a lot of time
on trying to get this &$@! p.o.s. Windows-only wireless card
to work, I am crying out for help.

What I have is an old Compaq with an AMD K6-2 cpu that is
running Suse 9.1 (that is the latest that will run with that cpu).
I have tried ndiswrapper and the acx driver from Sourceforge.

The results are: acx module did not compile. Do not know why,
there were no messages, it just didn't.

Ndiswrapper says that it is ok, everything is there but wlan0 does
NOT show up anywhere. Ndiswrapper module is loaded, the alias
points to the tnet1130 driver and all is ok... except for that tiny
little detail about no $@!&% wlan0. 

I have a wired connection, so it isn't a total loss if the wireless doesn't
work, I just want to know why the damn thing won't.
