Things may have changed since I last looked into it.  But Verizon 
provides the phone circuit and backbone connection as 2 different 
services.  If you sign up for their ISP you get the phone circuit 
bundled with the deal.

But there is a big catch with Verizon's ISP package.  You cannot run 
your own servers.  Your IP is not static so having your own domain that 
actually points to your servers is a PIA.  It can be done and we've had 
many discussions about Dynamic DNS management here.

The second catch is having to use their portal (msn.com).  Through this 
setup they filter the traffic and block some ports.

This is not acceptable for my needs.  So I need an ISP that simply 
routes my traffic.

Brian mentioned that he uses Verizon via a static IP.  I haven't had 
time to get back to him for more details, but I will.
