[NTLUG:Discuss] CentOS 5.1

I use CentOS 5.0 and 5.1 on several boxes. I am pleased with them both.
If you keep your 5.0 box patched, it's basically the same as installing
5.1 and updating it. I have not been able to determine any noticeable
difference between the two yet. I see no reason not to upgrade from 4.x
to 5.x unless it's the inconvenience of downtime or things along those
lines.

I haven't had any issues I couldn't resolve. One thing about CentOS is
that since it's a re-branded RHEL, it's a very conservative distro which
means it is rather devoid of the latest and greatest "whatever." But
coming from 4.6, this should be no shocker. As I am a Fedora user, I
would not be likely to put CentOS on the desktop since I like having
newer packages and tweaks available to me when they are fresh.

But as far as updates are concerned? Updates are frequent and numerous.
I'd recommend joining the mailing lists for CentOS to keep abreast of them.
