I'm not sure for that version of Evolution.  But in the version I have
(Ubuntu Hardy) in the address book there is a "Save as VCard" menu item.
Also is ~/.evolution/addressbook/local/ there is an "addressbook.db"
that looks like VCard with a custom header on it.  You might be able to
just crop off the header and use that.
