What census data are you using to reach that conclusion ? It certainly
isn't 50% of the desktop market, if it were 5% I'd be shocked.
Aren't there package converters out there that work ? What's the one
I'm thinking of ..... alien ???? Sorry, not a .deb guy. Becoming an
ips guy, but that's a thread for another discussion list.
But your quest is much more subtle than just packaging formats - the
way the distros integrate the various open source projects can make
this interesting at times.

You mean a thread based web forum that interfaces with the discussion
list ? Sort of depends on how you want to interact with the community.
I've done some on other lists and found that the forums don't socialize
as well. I dig the conversational approach of an email list.
That said, I'm right there with you when folks don't trim their
replies :-) At the volumes posted here, that doesn't seem to be
a huge issue.
