Surely you jest (or they jest).  I can understand some not knowing about 
Linux and actually more not knowing about open source but, explained 
correctly, there's no excuse of 'open sores'.

The biggest obstacle I see with the "unwashed" adopting Linux for 
stand-alone computing is the *NIX orientation toward mounting 
filesystems and that's actually getting better.  If only Linux could 
detect the pressing of the eject button on the floppy or CD drive and 
respond "Give me a second and it will eject" then flush the contents, 
unmount the filesystem and do the eject this problem would effectively 
be over.

Now if you want to talk about a Linux LAN, that's another story..
