It could just as easily represent a change of direction for Nokia in
that they now want to go with Qt and away from GTK+. Personally, I
don't care one way or the other except that progress is fueled by
competition and if one or the other ceased to compete or be competition,
then we'd likely see an ugly stagnation of progress rather similar to
that which XFree86 demonstrated.
Personally, I don't use Qt or KDE. I have nothing against it, but since
I grew up on GNOME, it's where I'm most at home. I have observed a lot
of fantastic progress in KDE and such and I would view it as tragic if
this were the end of it even if I don't use it at all.
