Both Radia and Van are well respected and sought out for advice
when it comes to protocols and algorithms with regards to
what we call "networking".
While Van, in this video... but perhaps true in general, is focusing
on generalities and where we might be going, Radia is great
for just getting down to brass tacks especially with routing
issues... but she loves to talk about the pros and cons
of developing "standards" via committee too.
I've never heard Van talk directly, but have taken classes
taught by Radia and recommend them highly. She often
teaches from her book on Bridges, Routers (that's pronounced
rooters, btw) and Switches.... she views most all of it
as variations of the same thing. Perhaps not as good
of speaker... but she's approachable and loves to talk
with you.
Give a listen here (she actually says ROWTERS... wow, she's normally
not so American about it):

You can probably take a class with Radia at almost any
Usenix conference.
