I can't conveniently get to the Mac OS side of my Dual G4 at the moment and it
has been a long time since I spent any significant time in Mac OS, however,
in Mac OS 7/8/9 you can select the "Start-up" device from a control panel.
My Dual G4 has been running Debian ever since I bought it 5 years ago so I
don't have current memory pointers for how I started the installation media.
I believe it was the hold down "c" at boot method.
Have you tried booting from the Mac OS installation media to make sure it's
not something wrong with the specific CD?
You might also try "Command-Option-Shift-Delete" to ignore the normal boot
device. Don't remember what happens next.
