I am just finishing a long phone call with India regarding my sbcglobal
/ att email account. For those who desire to use Thunderbird and
sbcglobal I have just been informed of a change that they did not inform
me of.
First, the email account changed from pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com /
smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com to pop.att.yahoo.com / smtp.att.yahoo.com.
Thats ok (if they had told me), it is less to type.
Second, the ports changed from 110 to 995 and 25 to 465.
Third, security changed to require SSL, but this is only for outgoing in
spite of what they told me. They specified that incoming also required
the security, but that failed, changed it back to not required and it
worked.
Forth, they refuse to support Thunderbird, only supporting Outlook. The
support they gave me was the configuration requirements which I had to
figure out. That is not a problem, but the attitude on their part is a
problem - they are a MS office only.
To their credit, I have to say that the Indian are learning to speak
English much better, although it still has some to go.
Dennis
