My personal favorite are the NEC drives. I have a 3520A.. there
are newer (faster) models. The advantage of the NEC's is that
they are modifiable. There are a plethora of firmewares
for the drives to do things like.... disable rip locking (so
you can rip at full speed) and eliminate region coding.

dvd::rip works, but it's very complex (lots of options).
I think I've used the Linux dvdshrink.. and it worked ok.. however,
dvd::rip did a better job.
