you can access a desktop on a vnc server from a java enabled browser.  
nothing to download or install.  you merely point your browser to 
http://your.domain.com that runs vnc on port 80.  sounds similar webmin, 
yes?  it's as easy as accessing your dsl router at home through a web 
interface to configure your home network. 

vnc is pretty nifty.  referece http://www.realvnc.com/gettingstarted.html#6 
and their faq that says you can change the ports vnc listens to.
