Yea, thanks, I forgot that one.  So, there are [at least] three good,
logical, choices.
/usr/local
/usr/lib
& 
/opt

But, again, to each his on.  
That's what they call 'em PCs - _Personal_ Computers

And it's good to have at least a couple different places to put
executable applications.  That way, you can categorize them just a
bit,  you don't have 'em all just crammed into one single directory -
a little better organization.
