Ok...this may count as 'blank stares' and 'vague concepts'...but on my
SuSE 9.2 system (where I AM able to run Firefox straight out of the box
as a normal user), I did the following:
suse:~ # find / -name "firefox" -print
/usr/bin/firefox
/home/dsimmons/.mozilla/firefox
/root/.mozilla/firefox
suse:~ # ls -la /usr/bin/firefox
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Mar 29 15:27 /usr/bin/firefox
-> /opt/MozillaFirefox/bin/firefox.sh
suse:~ # ls -la /home/dsimmons/.mozilla/
total 6
drwxr-xr-x 3 dsimmons users 96 Mar 29 17:31 .
drwxr-xr-x 37 dsimmons users 2312 May 3 13:52 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 dsimmons users 335 Mar 29 17:31 appreg
drwxr-xr-x 3 dsimmons users 144 Mar 29 17:31 firefox
suse:~ #
See if these 'all line up' - Dave
