Make sure you are using a null modem connector to go to the device your
connecting to. Other than that you should be ok going with the settings you
have.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] minicom settings for SGI

Greetings.

I am attempting to hook up a serial connection between a linux (fedora core
3) box and the MMSC console connector (or alt console) of an Onyx2.

It appears to be connected, but I do not get a login prompt. I have hooked
up a dumb terminal, and it works fine.

First I thought it was a cabling issue, but again, minicom says it is
online.

Perhaps it is a cabling issue. I am using the little DIN to DB9 pigtail
that comes with the Onyx2.

specs:

9600 8N1
VT-102
Hardware flow control on
Software flow control off
Init Sting ~^M~

Minicom 2.00.0

Thanks in advance,

Monty
