Thanks for the reply.
I was installing from a mirror since I don't have tetex on the downloaded
DVD.
I tried to update the software and many apps try to install tetex as a
dependency. I did not see any
useful information in /var/log/messages. The error messages in YaST didn't
tell me anything even in
detailed mode.
I aborted the update since there was still an hour and twenty minutes left
in the update and
I had to constantly click the error windows.
Now when SUSE boots, I don't have KDE Panel and can't get to my apps
through the GUI.
I think I will back up what I can and reinstall.
In case you are interested, here is a list of the failed installs before I
aborted:
a2ps
bc
cvs
cyrus-sasl
gdb
ghostscript-library
glib2
gnome-icon-theme
guile
imlib
jack
kdebase3-kdm
libmikmod
libxslt
lirc
oaf
openssl
parted
ppp
rsync
samba-doc
sax2
tcpdump
tetex
tk
tux_aqfh
Obviously I am a beginner but am really trying to learn.
Thanks for your time,
Bradley
