Years ago a lot of them had those legs.  The case was flat and so raising it
up a little bit made the angle of the keyboard more ergonomic.

I once noticed a laptop (that another person was using), that seemed to have
little peg-legs on the two rear corners, (about 1/2 inch tall) and although
I didn't notice the brand, they appeared to be part of the original design
and I assume they are for in creased ventilation, and / or to help to allow
for heat dissipation.  .
